Himalayan salt is the term for rock salt from the Himalayan region.

The pink colour in the salt is naturally formed as a result of the salt’s structure and mineral content – it is created from marine deposits that are believed to date back over 250 million years.

Being a natural product the salt has various shades of colour, from a reddish or pink colour to an off-white transparent colour.

Strongly salty with a mild mineral-like flavour, a sensation common to pink salt. It can be used to substitute common salt to give a special twist to recipes.
